Fear-free introduction to CNC technology (Throwback 1984)
In 1984, when KELLER.Software was still the publishing house ‘R. Keller’, vocational school teachers Großmann and Keller laid the foundation for our first “KELLER” software. Developed for basic CNC training, the software was called “Fear-free introduction to CNC technology”.
The title was intended to indicate that learning on a PC (which was still something completely new at the time) had advantages. For example: that a crash on the computer causes a scare, but not money.
This crash warning is still built into our CNC software ‘SYMplus’ today. In addition to this, the accompanying workbooks, which were already part of the learning concept back then, are available even today.

Federal Minister Riesenhuber impressed by KELLER’s “graphic programming” (Throwback 1989)
At our 300 square meter stand at EMO 1989, we were able to demonstrate how our product ‘GKE + CAM’ (the forerunner of our current CNC software SYMplus™) advances CNC production. Every hour, we used graphical programming to convert turning and milling contours into NC control formats according to the audience’s specifications in the “exhibition cinema”. The workpiece was then produced on one of the six CNC machine tools!
‘GKE + CAM’ impressed many well-known personalities, including Mr. Riesenhuber (man on the left in the photo), the then Federal Minister for Research and Technology – Mrs. and Mr. Keller is in conversation with him.

Turning according to PAL with SYMplus™ at the BBS Verden (KELLLER.Academy)
KELLER.Academy on the road! We traveled to the BBS Verden for a SYMplus™ training day. Our KELLER.Academy professor and PAL specialist, Mr. Reckermann, introduced the participants to “Turning according to PAL with SYMplus™” and demonstrated the approach with 2-axis and driven tools in the G17 and G19 planes.
A particular highlight was the successful implementation using a postprocessor for the DMG machine with Sinumerik OPERATE!
The teachers now have plenty of material to practice during the upcoming summer vacation, which starts at the end of the week in Lower Saxony!
Many thanks to everyone for a great time! It was great to be with you in Verden.

GKE + CAM – Graphical Programming (Throwback 1989)
Today we look back on our product “GKE + CAM”, the forerunner of our current CNC software SYMplus™! This tool revolutionised “graphical programming”. With clear pictograms, the most complex geometries could be captured and combined with the raw part in the work plan. Production strategies such as roughing and finishing were implemented directly in tool paths, without the need for G and M functions.
Well-known personalities like the one in the photo, Johannes Rau (then Minister-President of NRW, later Federal President), were highly impressed. On the right next to him are Mrs. and Mr. Keller.
Fun fact: Rau was born in Wuppertal and was even mayor of his home town from 1969 to 1970.
