CNCplus machines (Throwback 1992)

At the beginning of the 1990s, KELLER developed its own control software called “CNCplus” in collaboration with NUM as hardware partner and BOEHRINGER as manufacturer (as well as several other manufacturers). This multi-year project resulted in a total of 120 “CNCplus machines”, some of which are still active at NUM.

In the photo you can see our company founder, Mr. Keller (the man in the blue overalls), at one of the “CNCplus machines”. Next to him is Professor Odo Klose (sadly deceased 4 years ago), industrial designer and professor at the University of Wuppertal.

1st HTEC + KELLER Competence Center (Throwback 2007)

In June 2007, we celebrated an important milestone along with our partner Haas Automation: the opening of the first “HTEC + KELLER Competence Center” in Grevesmühlen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern!

With this important step, KELLER laid the foundation for the opening of eight further training centers throughout Europe. In addition to the location in Germany, centers followed in Belgium, Hungary, Romania, Estonia and Belarus. Two centers were even opened in Poland and Russia. These facilities are part of the HTEC program, which focuses on transforming CNC classrooms around the world into state-of-the-art, high-tech manufacturing laboratories to provide the best CNC training.

        Day of German Unity 2025

In the CNC world, we speak many languages: Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain … But no matter which control system—today, on October 3rd, the Day of German Unity, we celebrate what unites us: our shared…

TRAUB TX8 keyboard and IBM PC (Throwback 1984)

From 1984, R. & S. KELLER GmbH (today KELLER.Software) developed special keyboards that could be connected directly to the computer. This innovation in CNC training made it possible to learn how to operate the respective CNC control on the PC without having to go directly to the machine – so you couldn’t “break” anything. This principle can still be found in our SYMplus™ CNC software today.

The photo shows a keyboard for the TRAUB TX8 connected to an IBM PC.

KELLER advocates for Quality Education (Throwback 1981)

“Because the city of Wuppertal had no money for a CNC lathe, I asked Wuppertal’s entrepreneurs for donations […]. In the meantime, the district president threatened disciplinary proceedings – and after the campaign was successfully completed, there was even praise from them!” says Siegfried Keller, our company founder.

Even before he founded R. & S. KELLER GmbH, the trained machine technician and vocational school teacher in the field of metal technology was tirelessly committed to providing young people with a good education, regardless of their background and status – and one that is also fun!

In the photo you can see Mr. Keller next to the Gildemeister NEF280 with FANUC Mate, which he was able to purchase for his students thanks to donations (134,420 DM*). The square pictures on the wall, which served as support when programming the cycles, are still an integral part of our SYMplus™ CNC software today as “Help screens”.

German and Chinese Foreign Ministers visited KELLER (Throwback 1986)

In the early days of R. & S. KELLER GmbH (now KELLER.Software), nearly 40 years ago (1986), the German and Chinese Foreign Ministers visited our company in Wuppertal. The focus: the future of CNC!

In the photo: The man with the red tie is Mr. Keller, our founder. To his left stands the then German Foreign Minister and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Hans-Dietrich Genscher (passed away in 2016). On the far left is the then Chinese Foreign Minister Wu Xueqian (passed away in 2008) and on the right is the then Minister for Economics, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Technology, Reimut Jochimsen (passed away in 1999). In the centre of the photo, you can see a computer with a Maho control system.

Training Course in India, TECHNICplus (Throwback 2002)

In 2002, KELLER launched the ‘TECHNICplus’ mathematics software for basic vocational training. This learning software covered everything from advanced calculations and CNC mathematics to the basics of NC programming (and is still available from us today!).

‘TECHNICplus’, although primarily developed for the German training market, has also gained international recognition, as you can see from the photo from a training course in India. Our company founder Mr. Keller is pictured at the laptop explaining to the teachers what the software can do. There, however, ‘TECHNICplus’ was not used at vocational schools at all, but at general education schools to combine theoretical mathematics with practical applications. This approach made learning more effective and aroused enthusiasm among students and teachers.

                Olympia, Paris 2024

Happy Olympics to our neighbouring country France!

Did you know that the famous Olympic flag first flew in Antwerp (Belgium) in 1920?

Pierre de Coubertin, an important initiator of the modern Olympic Games and the inventor of the flag, once said of its significance: “The flag is white, with five intertwined rings in blue, yellow, black, green and red. These colours symbolise the union of the five continents.” At a time of nationalism and international tensions, Coubertin set an example of global unity and peace with the five rings we are all familiar with today.

“I have seen the future – the best for our shared future,” wrote Mr. Peter Hall from HAAS in our guestbook on December 1, 2004. These words marked the beginning of a wonderful partnership and a joint “European Tour” from 2005 to 2006.

During this period, KELLER and HAAS travelled to Hungary, Poland, Turkey, and Slovakia (this photo is from Slovakia; Mr. Keller, our founder, is on the left, and Mr. Hall is on the right).

Basics of programming CNC machine tools (Throwback 1982)

It all began in 1982 with this “notebook” titled “Basics of programming CNC machine tools”.

Our company founder, Mr. Keller, prepared it during his time as a vocational school teacher in the field of metal technology. But the major publishers refused to publish it – “CNC is not in the curriculum”, they said.

However, Keller did not let this put him off: his wife, Roswitha Keller, quickly founded her own publishing house and published her husband’s booklet. A year later, the publishing house “R. KELLER” also brought out the CNC basic software “Angstfreier Einstieg in die CNC-Technik” for the Apple IIe and the accompanying training booklets.

                    And the rest is history.
